I'm not sure what you want to hear. Data source init initializes a data source, form init initialize the whole form (it also calls init() of all data sources).

My understanding is that Form init does the enable/disable or visibility of controls when form loads. So what actually can be done on a datasource init

Yes, that's one of the things it does.

DS initialization initializes a data source - its query and other properies. The usual reason to override is to adjust the query.

Please don't change the topic of the thead. The question wasn't about initializeQuery() at all. Also, you already have another thread about a list page query; duplicating the discussion here wouldn't make sense.
