Hi,

What is "Segment" in customer master and what is the purpose of this field.

Any explanation would be really helpful.

This field is an additional field on customer master for categorizing the customers.

Segments lets you create groups of related contacts that you can target with different customer journeys based on your business requirements.

For example:

Your company is running some weekly sales offers. You might only want to send the offers through email to the contacts who are female depending on the sales statistics or report you have collated from the system.

Another example is where, you would want to target all your customers lets say by geographical region. e.g. Auckland, to send out invites for opening day events of a new store to all contacts in Auckland.

Depending on your marketing needs you could create different segments using segment designer based on the different queries you would like to run across different entities e.g. -contacts, leads, opportunities, events etc.

OOB D365 F&O, supports dynamics and static types of segments.

Also can be integrated with other model driven apps [Customer engagement] and CDS [depending on the PowerApps license] for additional marketing target activities.
