Depreciation entries not appearing in fixed asset card

Hi all,

I am trying to set up depreciation in Dynamics GP10.0 but I'm having problems with a particular step. The steps I've followed are:

Select Routines\Fixed Assets\Depreciate

Tick Depreciate all assets

Enter Depreciation Target Date

Select the book and click Insert

Select Depreciate

 

After depreciation has completed, go to an asset card Cards\Fixed Assets\General

Enter Asset ID

Select Book

Choose Book ID

However nothing appears in the 'YTD Depreciation' and 'LTD Depreciation' fields. I know that I need to follow a further step to post the depreciation in the GL but I should see the figures here first?

    It is probably worth saying that I am trying to resurrect a system in which the fixed assets module has not been used fully for a number of years. There are fixed asset records set up but depreciation has been calculated in Excel and posted manually in recent years. I think that the error is probably more likely to involve a set up or annual roll forward item rather than the depreciation run itself.

    To answer your questions: yes the depreciation process is completing, yes it appears that the error is for all assets, no I haven't tried generating a GL posting.

    I do remember changing a setting which was the 'depreciation year' or something similarly named to match my current year. I did this because I previously got a warning to tell me that the depreciation year was less than the current year, or something like that.

    Are there any set up items that I should check?

    Yes, you should see data in those fields after running depreciation.  is the depreciation process completing?  Can you generate a GL Posting?  Is this happening on all assets?
