Bringing batch jobs to Ended from Executing status

Hi,

On sandbox environment, a batch job continuously "Executing" for more than 2 days, not settling down to "Ended" or "Error" status. Batch job has 4 batch tasks and all are completed/Ended in 3 hours. -- (BatchJob - table)

Clicked on that particular batch job to see "Batch tasks", I put a filter on STATUS to see if any "Executing" batch tasks and found none. Downloaded all batch tasks of batch job into excel spread sheet and verified, to make sure no "Executing" status or "Error" or "Didn't run" statuses. There are no "Executing" Batch tasks but Batch job (Batch jobs screen) showing "Executing" status. All Batch tasks processed and produced expected business results. I am trying to find reasons; not looking to UPDATE through SQL for a Canceling or Canceled status. We are working on a ISV product. Server config MAXSESSIONS are set to 4. There are 10+ jobs continuously in "Executing" status.

How can we end these batch jobs normally?

Appreciate any help.

Cause of problem: A SQL DB trigger (Db_SEQ) was on BATCHJOB table that may be preventing STATUS of batch jobs not to process as expected, kept them as unfinished process. ISV team clarified and refreshed the Ax_DB database, and it solved. Just added for courtesy for forum audience.

    Thank you all.

    Thanks for couple of suggestions.

Try to check on "Overview" tab of Environment monitoring but getting keep "Loading..." message and not displaying anything.

UTC time (2021/01/28 16:35:00), Period = -15 (job completed in 4 minute, either side added 5 minutes) to see "All" Activity types, continuously Loading...

Where as on "Activity" tab giving "Query failed to execute" message with SessionID. I provided "Query name" = All logs, Is batch throttled || Start date in UTC (2021/01/28 16:26:00) || End date UTC (2021/01/28 16:34:00)

Am I checking in right-way? would it be possible to mention some more specifics - to check if there is any process related to batch job are running in LCS?

Next, no packages applied in recent days (15 days), this sandbox was imaged/spinned from a UAT tested codebase, UAT environment " Batch jobs" working good, difference is UAT (tier1)monitored by Microsoft and sandbox (tier2) not. Currently I don't have AOS "Restart" option (not Project owner), will touch base with ISV. However I can login to VM and saw that batch.service is running.

I have two options under Maintain, these are not helpful I guess for the need.

But question is if I restart batch.service (Dynamics 365 Unified Ops) from services, will the Batch job/s come to "Ended" normally? or does IIS restart helpful?

What is the AxDB SQL table behind Batch tasks(??) of a Batch job(BATCHJOB)? this helps to understand db relation, goal is to patch things properly.

    Appreciate any thoughts.

If you are sure there is no batch tasks with running state, try to restart Batch AOS('s) via LCS and check agin, also just check whether Have you applied any packages recently and are there any impact with your current issue .

    Refer : docs.microsoft.com/.../restart-environment-services
