Security roles and business unites - two child business units

Hi,

I'm working on a case where we want to have one parent business unit, and two child business units. Sell image below:

What we want to accomplish:

Users in business unit B should see all records in their own business unit, as well as those in business unit A.

Users in business unit C should see all records in their own business unit, as well as those in business unit A.

Users in business unit B and C should not see eachothers records.

Up to this point we have only had two business units, A and B, and therefore we could use Organization permission on a security role for the users in business B, however that wont work anymore as we will add another business unit. In addition, we cant use parent: child permission and set B and C as parents of A, because to my understanding we can only have one parent for a business unit.

Have anyone dealt with a similar scenario? What did you end up doing? Maybe there is someone that has any input on another way to deal with this scenario?

All the best

    Hi,

i don't think so it's possible solution with business units, but you can try to combine it with Teams. I don't know details about your environment so i can't provide you complete solution but for example in my environment i used owner field just for teams and where i need it i add new custom field (Officer) as lookup on user. So Account can have a team as owner and user will be Officer - in this case you can set privileges for Team like they can see just their records or his reporting hierarchy and their teams.

Hope this helps you at least a bit. Good luck with looking for solution.

    Hi ,

Are you facing any issue ? I believe the way you are thinking it's should work by giving security role access level  parent child to the user under B, C business unit users.

I understand that BU can not have multiple parent BU . Which means here in below C can not have multiple PARENT( A, B)  this is what the understanding.

    A

    B

    C

But  below structure is possible by giving parent child BU access level of the user under B,C business unit user security role.

        A

    B     C

Agree with Alexandr. I doesn't seem to be possible with just Business Unit & Security role due the the face that you need multiple parent BU's. You will have to look for some alternate ways of restricting the access.
