Automatic record creation and update rules - condition based on recipients

Hi there,

I need to set up a rule able to test if the incoming mail was addressed to a particular email address.

When trying to implement, the interface does not allow to test collections of record contained in to or cc fields which are partylist field.

The only solution I see is so far is to write a plugin who will extract data from the partylist fields and save the data in a custom field who will contain the concatenation of all email addresses separated with a delimiter.

Is there a standard way to that ? (without development I mean)

Thanks for the feedback,

Best regards,

Emmanuel Barache

    Hi Emmanuel,

would not it work if you did it this way?

It would not be an email address there, I think.. you should be able to use contact name or user name..

    Hello Alex,

Thank you very much for this suggestion.

I did not try to work with this field because when I have searched about it, I have found this link :

    https://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ac741136-c8e9-413a-aae1-0cf861e9e12a/difference-between-to-torecipients-for-emails-entity-how-to-migrate-multiple-recipients?forum=crmdevelopment

I understood that this field was used in an earlier version of dynamics but is now deprecated.

Do you confirm this information and if not, do you think I could rely to this field to test recipients ?

    Hi Emmanuel,

I tried it a bit more - you maybe right. It gets populated, but in a strange way.

It seems you can create required filter in the advanced find - see below, but I just tried in the record creation rules and I can't do the same there. It seems you do need a plugin then..

    Hi Alex,

The criteria you mention (Activity Party) does not seems to be available within the automatic Automatic record creation or update rules module. But anyway, I looked that the torecipents field seems to be populated for incoming mail so it is what I need and I think I will base my condition on that.

    Thanks a lot.

Yes, I figured I should have tried with the record creation rule rather than with the advanced find - already updated the post
