Unified Service Desk - ShellExecute

Has anyone successfully used the ShellExecute action on the CRM Global Manager control?   I want to use it to open a web page outside of USD, but no matter how I enter the parameter it just opens file manager, which is the same result as entering no parameter at all.

The "documentation" says of the parameter:

Launches an application by specifying the complete URL or path to the application.   Note: The user must have rights to run the application.

The URL or path of the application to run.

I've tried

Thanks

    Hi

    You can use the following parameters...

    file=iexplore.exe

    parameters=www.google.com

    406671.Capture.PNG

    Don't you think Pop-up panel will not work for your situation ? The main drawback of this approach is, USD won't have any control on the window it opened via ShellExecute. EOD, you may end up with too many of these windows.

    Thanks for this.

    If I entered the full path to the IE executable it worked (so file=C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe).

    To answer your question - I don't want to use a pop-up panel as I am actually opening the CRM so it can be used directly in the browser.  If I do this within USD:

    a) you don't get the browser controls, so you have to add them with a custom toolbar;

    b) I think I'll have to add Window Navigation Rules to stop the opening of records from this popup being processed by USD, but the user would still need to be able to open records - I can't imagine how you'd handle someone right-clicking on a link and choosing "open in a new window".

    A colleague suggested this enhancement:

    file=rundll32

    parameters=url.dll FileProtocolHandler http://www.google.com
