CRM 2011 on premise: Rename the URL after the company acquisition

Hi Everyone

I have a CRM 2011 on premise system. My business has been acquired by another company so the requirement now is to re-brand everything which shows old business. The CRM URL has my old business's name in it.

I believe it is the server name that needs changing. Could you advise me how do I rename this?

The servers are going to be moved on soon as well.

You can change the DNS entry pointing to that server. If you have the name configured in IIS, you will have to change that as well, and finally change the name in Deployment Manager under the Properties.

If you are using IFD, you will need to do some reconfiguration of Claims based Authentication and Internet Facing Deployment and Refresh the Configuration in ADFS as well.

The url that clients use to connect to CRM can be changed in CRM Deployment Manager, under Properties, Web Address. Note that this is a DNS name, so you will need to ensure the DNS name will resolve to the CRM server.

It is possible to also change the server names, though I would advise against this, as changing the names of both the CRM and SQL Servers after they've been installed can break things. If you had to rename the servers, I'd suggest uninstalling CRM, then reinstalling after the rename to avoid any issues
