Project module - purpose of roles

I'd like to know the tasks/rights/purpose of the different roles in the project module.

I searched TechNet but didn't find anything (neither in my language nor in English).

I'm using a non English version of AX2012, so the following terms might not be 100% correct.

The roles I'm interested in are (all under the heading "responsible"):

1. Sales manager

2. Project manager

3. Project controller

I'd be glad for any hint or link you can provide.

Hi, have you checked the following site?

    Thanks for your link.

It contained some roles like a project manager, but the closest to "project controller" I could find was "financial controller".

There were also some project related roles I couldn't find in AX like "project timesheet user" or "project assistant".

I included a screenshot of the roles in question.

    Hi,

I don't think that those "roles" are linked to the Dynamcis AX standard roles that you can assign workers to.

To my knowledge those fields simply serve as a filters that allow people an easier search for their projects.

This is also what the standard training materials say.

(Please double check with a developer to verify this behaviour and usage)

    Hope it helps,

    Ludwig

In addition to the "My" queries used in list pages as indicated in Ludwig's response, they can be used in workflows for determining approvers.

Just to sum it up and see if I got it right:

    * It's just a kind of marker

    * There are no "extra powers"  one gains by being mentioned in this list

    * they are relevant in workflows

Assigning an employee to one of those fields for a project does not affect their security roles.

Uses assigned to those fields can be used within project workflow providers.
