Posting General Journal not updating No. Series' Ending No. properly

Hello,

I have a question about General Journal Posting.

ex)Before Re-numbering *(Last No. Used = GRL-00013)

Line No.   Doc No.

10000      GRL-00010

20000      GRL-00010

30000      GRL-00009

40000      GRL-00009

50000      GRL-00011

=> After Re-numbering *(Last No. Used = GRL-00013)

Line No.   Doc No.

10000      GRL-00015

20000      GRL-00015

30000      GRL-00014

40000      GRL-00014

50000      GRL-00016

When I post the Journal,

the last No. used on No. Series would not be updated properly.

I expect it to be GRL-00016, but it would be updated to GRL-00014.

Is it a bug?

Also, I found out that "General Journal Templates" has "Force Doc. Balance" Option.

when I enable this option, it seems like working properly.

but I'm confused why disabling this option disturbs proper No. Series update.

Can you please give me some hint?

D365 consists of many applications, such as Finance and Operations, Sales or Business Central. Which one do you have in mind?
