The report cannot have a default filter error when report rendered from url.

I have a report in CRM that works just fine from the reports section of the application. However when the report is run directly from a url it presents an error: "This report cannot have a default filter."  The report does not make use of the CRMAF_ prefixes nor does it include the CRM_FILTERED<Entity>or CRM_FilterText parameters. It does however make use of the CRM_URL parameter top link back to records in CRM.

This report used to work fine and I just got the trouble ticket when one of our marketing users tried to run the report outside of dynamics. I am not sure what would have created the issue, it could have been a system update or a modification of the report (like adding the hyperlinks) that caused the issue. As I never access the reports from outside of CRM or this report at all I can't be more specific. The ability to access the report from a bookmark is definitely more convenient for people not normally in our CRM system, and if possible I would like to rectify the error, but can't seem to google up a working solution...

Thanks for any insight on the cause of the error message.

    Hi,

When you say "run directly from a Url" what URL are you using? Have you 'Published for external use?". Reports can't be run from a url unless it has been published or you are using the format described at: msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg328483.aspx

    Hope this helps,

    Scott

I haven't published the report for external use, I've tried that in the past and got other errors (which escape me). The way I usually provide the url to the users is through the "Email a Link" buried under the ellipsis, and it appears to have a format compatible with the MSDN article you referenced:

    crm.xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com/.../viewer.aspx
