Should we use Application Suite as the base for new objects?

Posted on by 4,125

Hi,

When I create a new model in AX 7, and actually in my project, I need to modify some of the standard, and develop something from scratch, should I use Application Suite as the base?

Thanks,

    Hi,

If you are creating something new from scratch, create your own package and add reference to the packages (Eg.Application suite) which you actually need.

Also, add references only to packages you actually need. If your new objects don't use anything from Application Suite, don't make an artificial dependency on Application Suite.

You can create a new model in a new package, add references and do customization using extensions. Few things are not possible using extensions, for this you'll have to go for overlayering.
