New label issue in SSRS reports

(5) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 294

Hello everyone,

I am currently experiencing an issue with SSRS report development using Visual Studio 2022, specifically on platform update 66 (PU66).
When I create a new label, the label text doesn't shown in the report, only the label code.

When I use the label as text/caption/label for example in a menu item, the label text is there.

It's only related to newly created labels.

What did I try to solve this issue:

- Check the language id that's used by/in the report. It's the same as the label file.
- Did a full build
- Restart the server
- Build the project with the label file(s) and report in Visual Studio 2022, but also in Visual Studio 2019.
- Copied a text placeholder with working label and changed the label to the label mentioned above. So, the syntax is correct.

I'm out of options. Anyone an idea?

    Hi,

1- Try to reset usage data.
    2- Rebuild your model.
    3- Deploy the reports
    4- Restart SSRS reporting service.

    Thanks,

    Waed Ayyad

    Hi @JCNNL,

You must build the model with build labels.
    Best regards,

@Mohamed Amine Mahmoudi Thank you for your answer. I already build it with these (default) options. No result.

@Waed Ayyad This also didn't solved the issue. Still facing the label code instead of the label text (only for the newly created labels, the old one are fine)

    Hi @JCNNL,

Try to delete the report from SSRS Web Portal and then redeloy the report.

    Hello

Does the model that your SSRS report is in have a reference to the model that the labels are in?

    Best regards,

@Mohamed Amine Mahmoudi removing from the SSRS web portal and redeploying wasn't the solution.

@Aymen CHELBI Yes. Old labels from the same label files still works, only these new ones not. Looks like it not correctly build the new labels which are created via VS2022.

Summary of the things that does not solve the issue:
    - Full build via VS2019 (with the building all labels)
    - Full build via VS2022 (with the building all labels)
    - Clearing Usage data
    - Redeploy report after removing it from the SSRS web portal folder.

    Hi @JCNNL,

    Try this expression instead.
    =System.String.Format("{0}", Labels!@FLR:InvoicePeriod)

    Hi,

    If all suggestions failed.
How about you create a new design and copy the original one in it, then use the new design in code. Would it work?

@Layan Jwei and @Mohamed Amine Mahmoudi : Thank you for your answer. Both didn't solve the issue.

I created a new design and place one text placeholder on it with the code of Mohamed. No success. Also the standard way ("=Labels!FLR:InvoicePeriod"). No success.

    Any suggestions left?
