Restore of Database

On my laptop I am running GP 2018 - I need to restore a Client DB for troubleshooting purposes to my laptop. The client DB is version 2016.  Is this something that can be done.

On my laptop I created a new company and then restored the 2016 DB over it. I ran the Dynamics Utilities but I was not prompted for an upgrade. I was able to open the restored DB but I am getting error on some windows - tables missing error message.

Please advise.

Thanks

The system database is now at GP2018 so isn't going to be properly compatible with 2016 companies.

You need to create another instance of SQL on your laptop and install the 2016 version of GP into it.

You could get fancy and give the system (DYNAMICS) database another name and install it into the same instance (in theory I've not tried it), but I would keep it simple by using another instance.
