Hi

Can anyone provide information on ZONES?  What are they used for as standard in AX2012?  Where would I use them?  Any advice welcome.

 

I've been asked by a client and although I've worked with AX for longer than I care to remember I have never used them.  Has anyone used them?  If so - what did they offer?

    Hi,

    Are you asking about Inventory management -> Setup -> Inventory breakdown -> Store zones, or Warehouse management ->  Setup -> Warehouse setup -> Zones?

    Hi CEL1967,

    Zones is used within warehouse management. It is a way to divide the warehouse in some logical areas like dangerous goods, raw materials, finished goods. Then you can let AX know where to put different type of  items at receipts.

    Thanks for response.  How do you let AX know where to put items at receipt when using zones which is different from when you do it without zones?

    Depends on if you're planning on using the Warehouse management module (R3 or later), or functionality that has been available since AX 2009 which some people call WMS II. Do you know which the client might prefer?
