Contacts being duplicated in CRM 2011

I have a user that is experiencing contacts being duplicated in CRM after the original has been created and we don't know why. Some are being created some time after the original was created, i.e. a few weeks and then we have had a couple of scenarios where the original has been triplicated within 24 hours of being created. Has anyone experienced this sort of thing happening, it only seems to be affecting one user which is strange. I've checked the Audit History to see if anything common is happening on the records and I can see that on the original contact there is an entry called Disassociate Entities appearing but I don't know what this means or what would have caused this. It is associated to the same user who is the owner of the record and who the duplicate is also owned by but if I do an Advanced Find for contacts modified by this user those with the Disassociate Entity doens't come up.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatfully received. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ann,

Not sure I completely know what is going on with your environment, but the associate and disassociate are entries when a relationship is created between two entities in a many to many relationship.

When the associate command is called, two records from two different entities are associated in an intersect entity (which is a native many to many relationship). When the disassociate command is called, these two records are or remove from the intersect entity. No data from either of the two parent entities is created or deleted in this case.

It is possibly that in the subgrid where you have the duplicates (if it's in a subgrid), your user is clicking on the Add (+) sign, and selecting a record, which was previously there and then shows up as a duplicate. It is also possibly that some backend logic (such as Plugins, Workflows or Actions) exists that does this.

    I hope this helps you.
