Hello Expert,

I have changed data type for one of the field in few tables in Business central SaaS ( Integer to Decimal). When i try to deploy the new extension it gives me error:

Deployment failed. Errors: App ID : 969d2be9-b824-4fd1-8bf5-681c5f2ebe04 Message : { TableExtension Item Ledger Entry Ext :: Unsupported field change.

TableExtension Sales Line Ext :: Unsupported field change.
TableExtension Sales Line Ext :: Unsupported field change.
TableExtension Sales Invoice Line Ext :: Unsupported field change.
TableExtension Sales Invoice Line Ext :: Unsupported field change.

I have tried with  "schemaUpdateMode":"Recreate" but still its same.

Any suggestion would be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

As of now, there is no way to change the data type once you published the extension to production.

You will need to create a new field, transfer the old field value to the new field, and tag the old field as obsolete.

Is it a brand new sandbox or do you copy it from production ? Have you published the previous version of the app to production ?

When you publish from VSCode with schemaUpdateMode Synchronize then it does not run your upgrade code.

If you don't care about the data entered into your new table(extension)s then you can change it to recreate and publish again.

If you do want to keep your data, then you need to use the Powershell command for doing an upgrade as specified in the documentation you linked to.

Note: for Sandbox only, as this will delete your table extension data.

Just had the same issue. This worked for me.  Ensure you can install / debug your solution successfully so it shows up as an installed extension (ie revert to original data type in your code). Once deployed, navigate to installed extensions, Uninstall your extension, when the "Uninstall Extension" window pops, ensure you select "Delete Extension Data" click Uninstall. Then Unpublish. You should now be able to make changes to the data type and redeploy to that environment.
