What is the minimum number of licenses that you can get the MS Portal for free of charge and be Microsoft complient?

Hello!

We would like to offer the MS CRM Portal to the new client but I couldn't find the exact number (+ which kind) of licenses you need to get the Portal for free of charge.

We would like to cover these two scenarios:

1) Customer needs only Team members since they are using only Activity and Task management. Do they need one or more Plan 1 licenses?

2) Customer uses only 3 Plan 1 licenses. How many of these do they need?

Thank you!

BR,

Miha

    Hi,

we have a customer which reachs out the end of trial period, we sell through CSP licence model 01 full 'Dyn365 C.E.' license and TeamMembers but we keep receiving alerts about 'your data will be deleted in x days or you must purchase a license'.

Accordingly to the document 'Dynamics 365 Licensing Guide Jan2019.pdf', the 'Portal' feature requires a minimum of 10 full licences:

    ----

    Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement Plan

    Portal
Effective October 2018, access to the first included portal for the tenant requires the purchase of a minimum of 10 Enterprise user licenses of Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement Plan, Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement applications (Sales Enterprise, Customer Service Enterprise, Field Service or Project Service Automation) or a combination.

    ---

If user doesn't have 'Portal' the 'V.O.C' will stop to work??

    Thanks Nicholas,

I guess that makes it unviable for my project. Have to find alternatives ... :(

    Hi Sup,

In order to get a free Dynamics 365 Portal, you need at least 10 enterprise app licenses (so Sales, Customer Service, Field Service, Project Service, or the full Customer Engagement license).  Team member licenses do not count towards that number.  This number was increased from 5 in the fall of 2018.

However, you can always purchase a portal instance on its own if you don't have that many users - last I checked it was $500 USD per month.

    Hello,

The licensing structure looks awfully complex. Is there an authentic source / site / page that I can refer to, to determine if it suits my client need. We are looking for one Full user (assuming full means including admin / customization powers) with about 6 team members (limited need-to-access controlled) for the Customer Engagement Portal CRM. I saw the note on minimum no, of users (5, 10, 20 - so many variants again !!) but I also came across one source which said this is not applicable for the Customer engagement portal but only for full operations hub (ERP + Finance + HR ???).

I tried contacting MS through various modes; there doesn't seem to be any local support team in India. My free trial is about to end and I need to take a decision quickly. Any pointers / guidance ?

    Thanks.

    Sup

to subscribe to Dynamics 365 you need at least 1 user with a license higher than then the team member.

regarding the portal requirements, this is from the Dynamics 365 Licensing Guide (July 2017)

Starting August 1st 2017, access to the first included portal for the tenant, customers will be required to purchase a minimum of 5 Full User licenses of Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement Plan, stand-alone Dynamics 365 Applications (Sales, Customer Service, Field Service or Project Service Automation) or a combination
