We recently moved our server for RMS to a new machine windows server 2008 standard sp2 with full 2005 SQL server SP4 20GB ram 400GB SAS drives RAID 5.
with SP$ RMS 2.0 we noticed a tremendous amount of slowness at the POS stations (9 of them) we only run store operations not HQ we installed SQL SP4 on all POS and manager stations as well as the server and installed feature pack 2 for RMS transactions now seem to process quickly at the POS although a third party software for customer loyalty seems to be slow for name lookups that integrates with RMS. the huge issue is now if you are in the item list for more than 4 or so seconds it flashes (list refreshing) at the bottom of the window in manager and it either jumps to the end of the list or the beginning of the list depending on which the item you are looking for is at. this is making it hard to look for items, enter PO's edit items and is driving managers insane. at the same time all the POS stations stopped being able to syncronize after a successful Z report so out offline database is currently dead
any thoughts?

I was just sent notification from Microsoft that hotfix 35 is available we just installed they had worked with us to set the item list to open as a search instead of the traditional way it opens as a work around . we will see if this works.
Evan - was this a solution for you. I recently applied the FP2 and hotfixes 32 and 33, I am still having an issue with the refreshing. When I complete something in items or PO's it refreshes and hangs anywhere from 15-60 seconds, more towards the 60 seconds.
I did find that hotfix shortly after posting the update Thanks. it was installed on all machines today. so heres to hoping
In regard to the item list refresh issue, is it linked to when a sale is performed elsewhere? If so, it looks like MS addressed it with Hotfix #33, which is available through CustomerSource.
the 3rd party vendor for customer Points claims this is completely unrelated to their software .
their infor ation uses at least 6GB of space and is 100% part of the RMS database they added probally 50 fields to the basic sdatabase.
the problem is non-existant after a reindex and rebuild with a full server reboot for a period of hours then it shows up again. it makes it highly frustrating to do PO's and adjustments for sale items or to look up inventory by vendor
we have been able to get the offiline databases working on 7 of the 9 pos stations the final 2 refuse to syncronize but those stations are hardly used so we have dropped pursueing that issue for them
I would ask the 3rd party for an update.
Did you update the POS offline databases to 2.05?
