There is an indirect activity in the System group called "waiting job". Working on this is the equivalent to inactive... Any gaps in production or project activity work time will be set to this when calculating. If working on indirect activities will require you to manually start work on that activity.

Is the issue that the person is checked in on the same activity when clocking back in?

There is a parameter that decide if you should start the same job when clicking back in that was active at clock out. Until king this will start in the waiting job indirect activity.

    Hi Fredrik

    Thank you for your feedback.

I assume that there is some set up issue. I am looking at the Contoso environement and I wonder when a worker has clocked in to a order (job) how should he clock into a indirect job? And how to switch between indirect activity and jobs. I am thinking to use indirect activity for cleaning and team meeting.

You could use a barcode for the jobID assigned to the indirect activity.

If you want to register on  it manually you need to activate the view list action in the activity pane then go to indirect activities and select it.

It is  separate view. You also need to define an indirect activity grid to the terminal settings.
