replenishment between warehouses through transfers

Hi all,

I am trying to automatically create transfers between warehouse upon this scenario.

Sales order comes in warehouse 1

Product is not available .in warehouse 1 but available in warehouse 2

Automatically initiate transfer between warehouse 2 and 1 for the missing product.

- Priority should be done as followed.

If item is missing in whse 1

start to look in whse 2

then in whse 3

then in whse xxxx

Hope this is clear enough.

THanks

Francois

    Hi Francois,

On warehouses, you can enable the refilling option and select a main warehouse which is used during the master planning runs. You can setup only one refill warehouse. You can test the behavior what happens is you do the next setup:

    Warehouse Refill main warehouse
    1 2
    2 3
    3 4
    etc ...

It will probably create multiple transfer orders if goods will flow from WH 4 to 3; from 3 to 2 and from 2 to 1.

If the workaround is not as per expectation, you can consider a customization.

    Bonjour André,

Thanks for the answer, however if I understand correctly we could not have the following:

    3 warehouses

    Warehouse    -->  Refill Main Warehouse

    • 1                         2
    • 1                         3
    • 2                         1
    • 2                         3
    • 3                         1
    • 3                         2

Any warehouses can be replenished by any warehouses

The main issue is the following :

We have a fleet of trucks that we use in warehouse 1,2,3 that we want to use.

It has been calculated that it is cheapest to LTL between warehouses and then put the items on our local fleet.

So we need to initiate transfers between warehouses on backorders.

There might be another way but in my past experiences this was done through paths of replenishment between warehouses.

    Thanks again

    Francois

    Hi Francois,

On a warehouse you can only have one refill main warehouse. In your scenario, the settings would create an infinite loop for planned tranfer orders.

I'm not able to fully understand your process, but probably you would need to solve it with a customization.
