GP2013 R2 Upgrade - Print icon is causing confusion

HI!

We just upgraded to R2 and the new icons are starting to cause user errors. We have been finding that finance is Printing batches/checks but not posting them. This is setting in fear that the system is corrupt and/or data is disappearing.

They have asked that this "print" icon be suppressed. Is this possible?  Any insight is welcome.

I can think of two options:

    1)  Under User Preferences, the Windows Command Display option controls how the "ribbon" looks.  You could try switching it to Menu Bar instead of Action Pane.  This makes it look more like the older versions of GP.  When you switch this, the user will need to log out and back in for it to take effect.  This is a per user setting so each user would need to change it themselves (or run a SQL script to update it for everyone).

    2) Use Field Level Security to disable the Print button.  This SHOULD work, but I've run it to situations with Field Level Security where it doesn't quite do what you'd expect it to do.  It'd be worth a shot.

I don't have Field Level Security option under Administration > Setup.  Should we, for GP2013 R2?

Hmm, I thought that was part of the perpetual licensing.  Check the Registration window (also under System) and see if Field Level Security is checked.  Once it's there, it'll be right under User Security.
