Creating a Sales Invoice from a Job

Hi:

For creating a sales invoice based on hours entered on a timesheet, how do you have Business Central automatically invoice only the timesheet's number of hours rather than the budgeted amount of hours for the resource appearing in the Job Planning Lines window?

Yes, I know that you can add the "Quantity to Invoice" field in Job Planning Lines and make the adjustment there prior to invoicing.

But, I have noticed that the quantity that is invoiced automatically is "Quantity" from Job Planning Lines.  This means that you can "accidentally" invoice a customer for 40 hours, even if the timesheet contained only 10 hours!

Thanks!

John

What is the type of Job Planning Lines that you are using?

I use Budget lines to represent what I estimated to the customer and my Timesheet lines are Billable lines. So I always get invoices for the billable lines only.

Use budget lines to build up your job. You can create time sheets from these lines. Use the job journal to post the time sheets. There is a function available on the job ledger entries which allows you to transfer the resources time sheet to a job planning line. You can choose for it to be a billable line. You will then have accurate data to create invoices
