Search by opportunity name from a list

Hello,

I have a list of all opportunities that we are currently looking at in an excel sheet. There are about 2000 records in the list and I cannot figure out the best way to search for them in CRM. I tried Advance find, however it only allows me to search by 1 record. All I have is the opportunity name. Is there something I am missing?? Ideally, I would like to create a view for this.

Thank you,

Joseph

RE: Search by opportunity name from a list

    Hi,

If you still want it as CRM view then you need to have some way to identify those records. You can do the following-

    1. Identify some unused field on the opportunity entity (which doesn't contain any data). If you can't find create a new field.

    2. Create an advance find view for all your opportunities with the name column and the above field.

    3. Export the opportunities out of CRM.javascript:void(0);

    4. Do a VLookup to find the opportunities in CRM sheet from your own sheet.

    5. Once you know the opportunities in CRM sheet, update the field value to some generic text say "Import".

    6. Import back these opportunities in CRM.

    7. Now, you can do an advance find again for opportunities where that field equals  "Import".

    Hope this help.

If all you have is the name in Excel, you're out of luck.  Your best bet would be to start searching those Opportunities in CRM one-by-one and see if they have any matching qualities.  The VLookup approach with an Excel Export might do that option as well.

Otherwise, you're literally going to have to make a 2000 line Advanced Find grouped by "OR" with a line for each Opportunity name.  And that's clearly not a good idea.

So figure out in CRM what the common thread is for those Opportunities are, and make the View based on that.  (Or add your own common field)

What I am trying to do is create a View with the opportunities in the List. Only thing I have is the Opportunity name. Any Input?

    Hi Goutam,

Yes, I got that. I mean you can only search for one record when searching by name. I only have the Opportunity name, no date created and they are all random. I have a list of opportunity names. When I go to search opportunity name: equals, then you search by name and can only search by 1.

    Hi Joseph,

Why you are thinking that Advanced find searches by 1 record ?

There was multiple condition you could use like contains , OR ,Group OR , multiple AND. I am suspecting that you might be missing something.

You can take a look below article , I hope this will helps you -

I have the name of the Opportunities (just the name) and search for all of them at once to create a view with all of them.

I need it to be in a view. This would fulfill it but it would not live in CRM. I am looking to search for all opportunities and have them in a view.

Thank you for your responds, however this does not work for me. I have the name of the opportunities and using that method, I would have to go one by one.

If Joseph specifically wants to search for the records in CRM then Advanced Find is not a bad option. However, the idea of Ravi and Mahender to look at the data in Excel is one of the easiest methods of examining the data.

Agree with Ravi, the best option will be to export and do vlookup you won't be able to search these records in CRM collectively.
