GP List View - Marked as 'Read Only'

I am having some GP List Views, e.g. 'Purchasing Requisitions Pending Approval' marked as 'Read Only' for some users.  As a result, once the user tries to drill down(double click) on a document in the filter, they are unable to open it. A user with 'Power User' rights is able to drill down, and open the Transaction window, without any issue, . Which are the appropriate rights should I assign the users who just need to drill down, without me having to make them 'Power Users' or giving them very elevated rights? Any feedback is appreciated. Kindly see screenshot.

    Hi Peter,

There are 2 things to consider here...

    1. Default Navigation Lists cannot be modified, by nobody, even a "POWERUSER" role.. Those are protected from alteration for good reasons (they are out-of-the-box lists and need to remain so, valid the same way as SmartLists).

    2. Custom Navigation Lists can only be modified by those who created them. Other users can use them and if they add new filters, they can use the 'Save As...' option and save them under a different name for their own usage. Unlike SmartList, you do not have a choice of sharing the modified list with either the whole System, the current Company or an entire User Class... Even a POWERUSER wouldn't be able to see it.

However, a modified Navigation List will be visible to other users if the publishing user has POWERUSER role in the system, or used Navigation List Builder to publish the list (this is part of the Builder series in GP).

    Hope this helps..

    Hi Beat,

Thanks for the detailed response. My issue is that while the normal user is able to see the 'List Views', they are not able to drill down to open the respective documents. I have only been able to compare the normal user with 'sa' user - where the latter is able to drill down and the documents open in the respective transaction windows. Also worth noting, is that for 'sa', the 'List View' is not marked 'Read Only', but for my normal user it is.

    Hi Beat,

I have gotten past the 'read only' issue by sharing the 'List View' from a privileged account. However, the drill down error, upon double clicking documents still persists.

Are you using any customization or any 3rd party product?

    Hi Almas,

I have some Dex customization for budget alerts.

Disable them and then drill down, lets see if error will come or not.

    Microsoft Dynamics>>Tools>>Customize>>Customization Status.

select your product and then disable it.

    Hi Peter,

is the Requisition Approval navigation list the only place where you have an issue with Drill-down ? We're not using the requisition system in GP 2015R2 as we have replaced that almost 2 years ago in BP for GP 2010 by a 3rd-party product hosted on a dedicated IIS server... but I could imagine that the error message you receive may somehow be related to the new requisition process in GP.

    Hi All,

The drill down error, from the Navigation Lists was being caused by an access setting in POP >> Requisition setup for approvers. If an approver, who ordinarily does not enter requisitions, is not set to view 'All Requisitions', then the drill down on documents assigned to then - from the Navigation List, pops up an error.
