PowerApps Connection

Hi Community,

I have a question about Dynamics Guides:

Is there a possibility to get the instructions I have created in Guides to Microsoft PowerApps?

I would like to be able to watch the instructions via PowerApps with the associated images and videos and view them step by step in PowerApps.

I only found the premium connector Business Central. Is the data also be able to get without a premium connector in powerapps?

Thank you for your feedback.

GRich

Hi GRich, you can pull all Guides data into PowerApps because the data is stored in Dataverse (formerly known as CDS). Dataverse gives you control over your data and the ability to access it through a variety of APIs.

When you install Guides into your Dynamics 365 environment, we create a variety of tables used by the Guides app. This includes tables for steps, images, videos, etc. See docs.microsoft.com/.../developer-entity-reference for a high-level reference.

For community support using PowerApps with Dataverse, see powerusers.microsoft.com/.../PowerApps1 (you will get better traction than this community for technical questions). If you need a quick learning course, I found this online from Microsoft: docs.microsoft.com/.../

However, be aware that Guides is evolving and occasionally we update the schema during a new release. For example, we might deprecate a field or change the way some data is stored. This creates a risk of breaking your data integration if you upgrade without realizing the schema has changed.  To help you prepare, we post announcements to this forum and the release notes. You should watch for announcements - and if you are doing urgent or mission critical work, we advise that you contact our team via your Microsoft account/support rep for guidance.

I hope this helps to get your started. I am not familiar with the Business Central connector you mentioned but you should not need that specifically just to access your raw guides data. If you are seeing otherwise, let me know and I will look into it.

p.s., to add onto my other response, below is an example of a sticky announcement of a schema change. When you see postings for "integrators" that means anyone doing more advanced data integration. This type of announcement should be reviewed carefully for potential impact.
