Can't read input Excel file in Management Reporter

After migrating all my FRx reports to Management Reporter, I find that I can't run any that use Excel worksheets as input. When I run the reports, the following message appears in the Report Queue Status window:

ReportProcessor.InvalidWorksheetFileReference

I tried re-linking to the Excel file, but I had several problems:

1) If I left the link the way it was in FRx and tried to resave it, I got an error: 'The worksheet file must have an .xls or .xlsx extension'. This is the way it was formatted:

\\hda05\great plains shared\FRx worksheets\[LOGPFISUNITS2011.xls]Sheet1

The only way to get rid of the message was to format it like this:

\\hda05\great plains shared\FRx worksheets\[LOGPFISUNITS2011]Sheet1.xls

...but then I get the first error.

I also tried replacing the \\hda05 with a mapped drive letter, but that didn't change anything.

After much trial & error, I found the problem...actually two problems :-)

    1. I changed the file path to: \\hda05\great plains shared\FRx worksheets\LOGPFISUNITS2011.xls (eliminating the brackets and the sheet name)

    2. I had to add a value in the PERIOD cell in all the row definition WKS columns. My old FRx definition didn't have them - apparently Management Reporter is more demanding, which I suppose is a good thing :-)

    Hi,

With MR, you need to format the link like so:

    [\\hda05\great plains shared\FRx worksheets\LOGPFISUNITS2011.xls]Sheet1

The entire path plus the file name must be in brackets.  The the worksheet name is after that.  We're looking at getting the Help documentation changed to reflect the next formatting.

I was able to use your file format to link to the external spreadsheet; but, I was unable link it unless the spreadsheet was on the same server that management reporter was installed on.

    Hi all,

We just migrated from FRx to MR as well and are having the same issue, getting the message:

'The worksheet file must have an .xls or .xlsx extension'

We used teh format like [\\hda05\great plains shared\FRx worksheets\LOGPFISUNITS2011.xls]Sheet1\

and I moved the file to the same server as Management Reporter (& Dynamics) is installed on.

    Any other ideas?

The Excel file needs to be in a location  where the MR Process service user has access to read it though - this could be the MR server, but other servers also might meet this criteria, depending upon how the server is set up.

If you need to designate a specific tab, there is a field in Management Reporter where you also can do that.

I'm confused by your reference to a PERIOD cell.  I am not able to locate this in MR...

We are actially using SL not GP, but as I noted previously we had the same problem that was solved by moving the sheet name from the end of the filename to the "Worksheet Nmae" call (which I think is what he meant by period Cell) which is immediately following the "Workbok or Report path" cell in the Tree definition.

My apologies....I meant the Period cell in the Column definition, not the Row definition. FRx didn't require anything in that cell in 'WKS' columns, but Management Reporter does.
