Config. Worksheet - Gen Journal Data Migration 'Updating validation errors' HELP PLEASE

Hi Guys,

I really need some help.

I am doing some Data Migration for GL journals.

I have created my Config. Worksheet with Table 81 Gen Journal, ticked the box for Dimensions as Columns and filled in my Excel template.

It is only an 8k journal, which when loaded in, the lines went in within 10 mins however after that i have had a box come up saying 'Updating Validation errors' with a progress bar 0% - 100%

This bar goes to 100% every 10 seconds and then the box pops up again as if its checking a new line.

The ISSUE is that this has been going on for 2 hours now with no hint of stopping.

I have another 20 more journal batches to do, i was expecting it to be done quickly.

What do i do, and how do i get this to not happen again for the next batch - any chance i can switch the validation errors off?

can anyone please help me?

On the Configuration Package card, under 'Tables' Tab-> click Table -> Click 'Fields'

Click 'Edit List' and only 'Include Field' the ones you need. More importantly to overcome this issue, uncheck the 'Validate field' box for all the included fields.

This issue is more pertinent when you include Dimensions to your load. Ensure that the Dimensions fields (seen at the very bottom of the list) AND the Dimension Set ID fields are unchecked at 'Validate Field' check box.

The loading should be much more faster. Since you have opted to remove validation here, it will be done during the journal posting.

    Hello,

Adding to other replies... I have done Configuration Packages that have had 700K records, which was more than 8K in size. How many columns are you importing. As YUN said, remove the columns that are irrelevant. Most of my Table 81 Config. Packages only have these fields:

What are your fields? Something is validating that is causing this. Send back a pic.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Hi, This is a bit strange, I don't think 8K is the limit of Configuration Package. And this is still in the Windows Client.

I think the first thing you should try is to reduce the fields you don't need.

Please do not select all fields.

If it still doesn't work, you can reduce the number of the record and try again.

    As for other methods:

    1. You can copy directly from Excel to the General Journal page (Ctrl+V)

    2. You can use ExcelBuffer or XMLPort to develop a small tool to import data directly from Excel or CSV.

    Hope this will help.

    Thanks.

    ZHU

    Thanks for the reply.

What other method can I use to import a journal of that size?

    Thanks

In my experience large journals like that does not work very well in the configuration packages.

I would use another method to import them.

My others may have other experiences.
