    Jeff,

I tried adding the Alias the way you suggested and it made matters worst.

Do i add 2 separate fields in the Alias?

One for Named Pipes and one for TCP/IP?

I tried adding one at a time and both at the same time and the end result

was i couldn't connect to the server or the DB until i took everything out of the Alias.

Do i make the change to BOTH the server and the connecting PC?

Is there a Step-by-step guide you can send over to me on how to properly setup the

Alias please just in case i am not setting it up correctly.

    Best regards,

    Danny B.

PS:  I am running RMS 2.0.0105

If on a different machine, go into the Client Network Utility in the RMS group on the Start button and make sure that Named Pipes and TCP/IP are on the right and then on the Alias tab, insert the Server's Name and select Named Pipes and Insert the Server's IP address and use TCP/IP.

The DB is on a different computer, the one im having the issue with is a register the connects to the DB.

The TCP/IP was set on ALL computers, how to i set the Alias?

Search your hard drive for any QS_*.tmp files and delete them.  Be out of RMS when you do it.

What is the exact version of RMS?

Is the database local or on a different machine?  If on a different machine, go into the Client Network Utility in the RMS group on the Start button and make sure that Named Pipes and TCP/IP are on the right and then on the Alias tab, insert the Server's Name and select Named Pipes and Insert the Server's IP address and use TCP/IP.
