Good Day

I am busy with a trial for Microsoft Dynamics and am a bit frustrated.

I am a consultant working in Sales across 4 different companies. Therefore I earn commission from 4 different sources - sport, entertainment, community radio and events - I have 4 different email addresses on 4 different servers meaning 4 different Companies that aren't linked.

I need a CRM program, not to share but for my own personal use - a program to house my clients information (database) that I will utilise to build relationships and marketing. As i might be selling to the same clients from 4 different sources.

So my selling style is to build relationships first and then recommend a solution through the said 4 sources.

My question is if I log onto Microsoft Dynamics, will I be able to utilise the program as my primary database - crm -so I know where I am, in real time, with each client with each of my opportunities. In a perfect world I want to to log on to the server, log on to Microsoft Dynamics, send and receive emails from the server, updating my Dynamics. Then log off and log on to the next server with Dynamics across.

Is Microsoft Dynamics able to do this?

Many thanks

Regards

Michael Franck

To achieve you requirement exactly as you have described would be possible but you'd be talking about 4 instances to achieve the 4 server approach you describe.

But for a low number of users it might not be cost effective. To have two completely separate instances with separate domains etc you would need 4 subscriptions. Meaning you'd have to purchase 20 online licenses as a minimum. As the minimum is 5 professional licenses per subscription.

Alternatively you could have 4 production instanced on one subscription. You can one instance included with the 5 licenses. You'd then need to pay a monthly fee for 3 additional production instances.

Your third approach would be to create 4 CRM users in one instance. And have 4 business units in CRM. Each user would need a security role that shows them only the accounts (etc) in their business unit. So you would log off as one user and on as another. It would be the same "server" but everything would be separate. This would be cheaper on licenses and would give a capability to report across all four companies as and when required.
