If you do not already have the PSTL you can ask your partner to download it for you. The company copy tool is one of may tools in this toolkit. The PSTL has to be match to the version of GOP you have deployed. There is no charge for this tool.

There are many tools available for importing data into GP. You can use Integration Manager, eConnect, Web Services, Table Import or Rapid Migration Tools to import your master data from old company to new company.

I would suggest you to use Integration Manger or Rapid Migration Tool.

    Hope this helps!!!

    Hello Refeesh

You are most welcome to Dynamics GP community.

This question could have a variety of method apparently, each with Pros and Cons. Although, I would like to list down few suggestions that you may consider for your implementation

    • Rapid Start Migration Tools for Dynamics GP. This tools is basically designed to cut down on the initial time and cost required to get the system up and running. It helps you migrate the data from your old system, create the master records such as (Accounts, Customers, Vendors, Items ..etc) with opening balance. Additionally, you can edit master records during the migration phase for data cleansing purposes.
      >> Reference : An example along with a video tutorial is provided on Using RapidStart for Dynamics GP 2013 to go from QuickBooks to Dynamics GP 2013
    • Integration Manager: through this application, there are a predefined packages to import master records and associated opening balances. An interesting step-by step article is provided on Azurcurve blog on How To Install Integration Manager 12. Get the integration manager guide for further illustration.
    • Macro: This is a simple method to create macro file; a predefined set of steps, processed on all Dynamics GP windows. You can import data such as master files and opening balance as well. You can use the Mail Merger functionality along with the Macro functionality to facilitate the process. Further details are provided on How to use Word Mail Merge and Macros to Import Data

    Hi

The simplest method to copy master data from an existing database to a new one would be using the Professional Services Toolkit.  There is a company copy function that enables you to copy specific setup and settings.

It is quick and easy to use.  There may be some settings you need to change afterwards, but that may be quicker than any other method, particularly if there is more than one module in use.

If this is not a toolset you are familiar with, I highly suggest that check it out.  The functionality in it is very good.

    Cheers

    Heather

Reading your comment, I have just been alerted about a very important piece of detail, whether we are migrating the master data from an old company (old legacy system) or from an old GP company

In case Refeesh is referring to an old "GP" company, then I would absolutely go for the PSTL copy company tool.

The one question i would like to ask you is do you have custom master data to move from one company to new company?
