Using Finished Products from Previous Shop Order as Raw Material in Current Shop Order

Posted on by 1,090

Hi,

How are you?

I would like to ask for your advise ,for a situation as following.

For Example:

1) I have created Shop Order #1 last month & have finished producing 10 units of Finished Product

2)  We have only sold 8 of them. ( therefore 2 units left in Ending Inventory-Finished Product)

3) In Current Month, I have created Shop Order #2, & want to produce 4 units of Finished Product

4) We would like to use the 2 units of Finished Product from Shop Order#1, as

Raw Material in Shop Order #2.

Question

* How to put the "Raw Material" in Shop Order#1 ( the 2 Units in Finished Product Inventory )   back to Raw Material Inventory?

* Is there any "Screen" in GP or  "Check Box" that we could click, so that the 2 units of Finished Product to go back to Raw Material Inventory which could be used in Shop Order #2 production?

Please be excused when my question above is not being explained clearly enough.

Thank you..

Yes, you can add the " Finished Product" in shop order #2 if these two "Finished Product" are used the different item #.

    Hi Frank

    Thanks for your advise..

Lets say product producing in Shop Order #! are very similar to the produce in Shop Order#2; but not exactly identical.

You have advised using "Add Component " in Manufacturing Order Receipt Entry.  Do you mean we could add the "Finished Product" in Shop Order #2 as a component

(input Finished Product Part # in Manufacturing Order Receipt Entry" screen?)

    Please advise.. Thanks.

I agree with GP2ME.  The existing finished good item does not need to be part of raw material inventory to issue it to another Shop Order.

Are both of finished product used same item #? If not, and you don’t need disassemble these 2 units of finished product from shop order #1. I suggest you click [Add Component] in Manufacturing Order Receipt Entry Screen to add these 2 units.
