SQL Update Required for Decimal Place Change?

Is the information in this post still accurate?

It says that after running the Change Decimal Places utility the user must update the CT00102 table by SQL.

I'm surprised because everywhere else that I've seen updating GP tables by SQL is discouraged, and with it being such a simple update why would they not  just include it in the utility procedure?

If the version of GP you are using still provides the warning, the KB is most likely valid.

We were doing it in GP 2010 SP2.

Haven't encountered the situation yet in GP 2015.
