TX.cab R5 for 2014 - does this compete tax table updates for 2014?

I was at a client's shop (GP2010) the other day and saw their 'Last Tax Update' in Payroll was 3/25/2011. The 'Last Modification' was 11/17/2014, the 'Last Tax Code Update' was 7/15/2011, and 'Last Year-end Update' was 11/17/2011 (Payroll setup?). Anyway, what is the purpose of the latest TX.cab R5? Is it the last update for 2014? Would it be a problem to apply KB3006900 then add the TX.cab? This does not apply to 2015 tax year, right? So, it just updates tables for 2014? It is somewhat confusing what these actually do...

A KB or an msp install is actually code and not a tax table.  A tax table is the TX.cab you mentioned above.  I do not see a problem with installing the TX.cab and we have not released the 2015 tax tables yet, probably end of this week.  Here is a great KB that talks about the dates and how they are updated.

Thanks, Terry. I see many clients that have not applied a tax table update for 2014, other than the first one done to close out 2013 after the wage file is created. Is there any danger or problem with just applying the end of year KB/code update without any additional 2014 tax table updates, including this last one dated 8/1/2014?

You will be fine, as long as they have round 1 with the correct limit, there is no need to install the rest for the 2014 year this is why in our documentation we state 12/17/2013 or later, it is not required.

To install the latest 2014 tax update changes, log in to Microsoft Dynamics GP

as the system administrator, and open the Payroll Tax Update window.

(Microsoft Dynamics GP menu >> Maintenance >> U.S. Payroll Updates >>

Check for Tax Updates) Your last tax update should be 12/17/2013 or later.

Thanks. I typically think I understand, but always want to verify that I am right. Your prompt response it appreciated. I will finish the email I stared and help the customer feel better.

    Terry,

I have a client that loaded the 2015 tax tables for GP 2013 last week but has not yet created the year end wage file.  I have been searching for a 2014 tax table on partner source and can't find any.  Are they still available or will the client have to manually correct the tax tables for 2014?

    Thanks.

    Hi Jim,

Yes, you can get the 2014 tax tables.

    For example on this site

    mbs.microsoft.com/.../TUGP2013

    Under NOTES it states this

    NOTES:

    1. Click HERE to download the 2014 TX.cab for 2014 Payroll tax tables.
