i am new to CRM,
when are going to create Custom entity ?
for example if it sales project, already all entities are there like lead, account, contact, opportunity etc...
any one can you please give some project example related to sales and tell me when we need custom entity .

In sales module let's say you need to store customer bank account details , a customer can have multiple bank account in different bank. So when you open existing customer forms you want to display list of bank account details in a subgrid.
In this scenario you need to create separate entity called "Customer Bank A/c Details" with fields like bank name , account number , lookup of associated customer etc.
Notice here "bank name" field of above custom entity "Customer Bank A/c Details" can be a lookup of another custom entity called "Bank" so that you can choose the "bank name" form the lookup at the time of creating " Customer bank a/c Details". Also in the "Bank" entity you can store list of Bank Name.
Another example let say you need to add some customer reference or person to contact if customer not reachable , In this scenario you can also create a simple entity to store just "name" and contact number with relationship with the customer and display the list of customer contacts in a subgrid of customer forms.
Hope above scenario helps you to understand the requirement of custom entity.
It's all together depends upon how you want to handle transaction data and master data.
Most probably when you need to create master entity, also in case of you want to add related records for existing entity,
I think you can find right away if you need a custom entity or not.
for example if your sales project is about renting storage units, you can create a "storage unit" custom entity with all the required fields and link to the OOB entities
