Unable to access a Model Driven app using Powerapps per user license

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

I am having issues where a user with powerapps per user license (without d365 license) cannot access a model driven app based on the case entity of D365. I know it is a restricted entity but licensing guide says that powerapps user should atleast be able to read the case records which is what we are aiming for.

I tested this in Feb with powerapps per app license and it worked. I cannot figure out what is wrong.

I have:

1) Ensured that the user and app have the same security role

2) Model Driven app is shared to the user

3) User has the common data role assigned

Can anyone help please?

Thanks!

J

    Hi Jay,

Are you still facing this issue?

Please consider raising a ticket with Microsoft so that they can help with a more thorough investigation.

    Thanks

Which model-driven app is the user trying to access?

Is it an out-of-the-box model-driven app like Customer Service Hub, Sales Hub?

Or is it just the custom model-driven app with the case entity in it?

In that case I would suggest contacting MS Support. If the guide says it's OK then it should be fine. I do see some contradictions between the Dynamics Guide and the Power Platform Guide, but I might be wrong about this.

    Good luck.

I downloaded the latest yesterday online for the powerapps license to double check it still holds true.

This is the error msg that i get. I access the link as the powerapps user based on the URL provided in the model driven apps edit --> properties area. I am unsure if there is a different url link to access the app for a power apps user? I cannot find any sort of documentation or someone with the same issue so it must be me!

What version is your licensing guide? When was it released?

It should have Read only access to the restricted entities according to the licence guide.

What is the error that the user with powerapps per user license is getting while accessing a model-driven app based on the case entity of D365? (any error log details/screenshot would be great)

    Hi Jay,

I am not sure that is accurate.

In order to access a restricted entity, I would need a Dynamics license.

    docs.microsoft.com/.../data-platform-restricted-entities

It is possible that this is happening since Microsoft started the license enforcement in Wave 1 2020, but am not sure.

The team member license should be able to access these entities:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../team-members-license

Hope this helps and Good luck.
