Mass editing records without cascading

Hi all,

I'm facing a situation where I must mass update the owner of 100+ contact records without updating the owner of the records that are being cascading (5000+ records).  If I were to disable cascading for these entity types, re-assign the records, then re-enable to cascading, would it have my desired effect of never updating the owner of the child records?

Please let me know if I should elaborate.

Thanks in advance!

Absolutely. If you disable cascading on Assign, those records will not be assigned and you can always turn cascading on after you have completed the assignment. Although I'm not a big fan of leaving cascading on upon assignment, at least not for all records, only for active ones.

    Good Luck!
