Unable to change the behavior and format of Actual Close Date of Opportunity

Hello All

In the Opportunity entity, there is an Actual close date field which is currently set with the Behavior and format Date only. Since this field is set as Date only, the time part gets recorded as '00:00:00' and this is causing some problems as I need the correct Opportunity closing time.

I did some research and many are suggesting to Change the Date only  behavior to User Local and format to Date and Time to make the field record the correct time. But when I checked the field both the behavior and format is grayed out. Is there any way to edit these fields?

Also creating a new field which records Date and time will cause some difficulties since the Actual close Date field is used in many places and I will have to modify each and every one.

Kindly let me know if there is a way to record the actual closing time on the Actual close date field itself.

    Hi Jamie,

    Hope you are doing well.

    It seems that Actual Close date is date only field at SQL side that's why we can't change the format as it is also grayed out. The Actual Close Date field is date only field so we have to use another field with Date and Time to record opportunity close date and time. This can be achieved using plugin or customize opportunity close form as per below documents:

    2. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/sales-enterprise/customize-opportunity-close-experience

    We can customize opportunity close form to capture additional information while closing the opportunity using above documents, please find additional information for plugin at opportunity close using https://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/c2c4c71a-f7d4-4263-91b8-0c5549b3448a/crm-2011-plugin-for-opportunity-close.

    I logged an MS ticket and they also suggested to created a new field for capturing close date and time.
