Quote Subtotal does not match with line item totals on Sales Transaction Entry Form

Hi,

Our sale people experienced weird issue on Sales Transaction Entry Form. This is rare issue they are facing 2-3 times in a week.

When they are creating a quote with single items or multiple items or copying from existing quote, Subtotal and total of line items does not match. Sometimes SubTotal has 0 amount.

We are trying to find a root cause of this issue to fix but couldn't find. We know that using Reconcile Utility, we can fix the problem but I want to know exact reason so we can take care and fix it for them.

Please suggest what i can do to fix.

Hi Atul,

I have seen this happen sporadically over the years, but only on SOP transactions with a lot of line items and a lot of changes. There is no known fix for it, as it's not been possible to reproduce this issue on purpose reliably.

However, if this is happening on quotes with just one line item, I would suspect something else is going on. My initial reaction would be to check for:

bad connection to the SQL data

customizations / modifications

3rd party add-ons

Any one of these could be impacting the regular operation of the Sales Transaction Entry window and cause what you are seeing.

Yes this is happened rarely but not frequently. We have rarely 4-5 documents in a week or 2 which have this type of issue.

Customization

We have two calculated custom fields for margin % on Sales Transaction Entry Form.

Network Connectivity Issue

I have checked with my network admin about bad connection and he said that Both GP terminal server and SQL server are connected with high connectivity network in same premise. So he doesn't think that bad connection would be a problem but he will keep monitoring network connectivity closely .

3rd Party Addons

We don't have 3rd Party Addon on this form.

I have tried many times to reproduce it by adding/deleting multiple line but couldn't.

We have this happen a couple of times each year. In our case, the user was in the process of creating a quote and then left their workstation/session. Then their Dynamics GP session timed out.
