Assembly Order costing w/ Non-inventory Item

Posted on by 4
Can anyone advise on how to have the cost from a non-inventory BOM component roll into the Actual cost of an Assembly Order? It does appear to roll up in the /Expected Cost/ and the BOM cost roll-up, but the actual cost for the finished good based on the Assembly Order does not include the non-inventory item cost (it books to 'Cost Amount (non-invtbl)'.

My scenario is that I wish to include the cost of the packaging, but not to inventory the package inserts. Creating an Assembly BOM works perfect in all other respects, but I can't figure out how to get the cost to roll into the finished order.

TIA!

I don't think this is possible. Non inventory items are not keeping costs in the system so the assembly order won't post its costs as well.

Hi, this seems to be standard behavior.
Hopefully other experts can give you better advice.
