X++ Adding more than 12 financial dimensions

  • Hello, we have the following mod request from the client. How feasible is this with X++ to add dimensions? Thank you

  • Out of the box, F&SC will only allow 11 segments (main account + 10 financial dimensions) on the chart of accounts. To add any additional financial dimensions a rule must be added in the advanced rule structures.
    • This limits the ability to place any additional rules around how those extra financial dimensions are used.

 

  • Client  is requesting to add a modification to allow another segment on the chart of accounts (GL>Chart of accounts > Structures > Configure account structures).
    • The name of the financial dimension they want to add is "TestDimensionHere”
    • This will allow them to create additional advanced rules to govern the use of all 12 segments

    Hi Zen,

    Where exactly do you need more then 10 dimensions? On a report or during data entry within the segmented entry control?

    Using more than 10 dimensions on one ledger account is quite unusual. Can you explain the purpose of having 11 dimensions on a single ledger account?

    Hi Andre, I believe it is during data entry with segmented entry control.

    Our client simply has many dimensions to keep track of. Unfortunately I don't have a better functional answer than that because I am a developer. Do you know if it's possible to add more via X++?`

    Hi Zen,

    Unfortunately, I can't answer your technical question here. I never had this requirement, so also not the experience. It would be probably a good idea to have an experienced Finance consultant which can talk with and help the customer to see if it can be avoided.
