Managing different Exchange Rate on Quotes

Hello,

I am having some challage managing different exchange rate on quotes. I have a client that want to be able to use different exchange rate for USD on quotes for its daily transactions. The scenerio here is the client in question have customers that gets quotes from them in the same currency at different exchange rate on daily basis. This would have been easy if CRM allows the exchange rate field on quote to be manually edited and use the exchange rate entered to do its calculation and not the one specified on the currency form.  NAV/AX have this capability and it makes quotes preparation seemless. I am new in CRM and don't yet have a good grasp on plugin customization so I want a solution that won't require plugin.

Do anyone have a walkaround on this as I have tried several things without result.

Thank you in advance.

Francis.

    Hello

I think you have to update the exchange rates for your curriences on a regular basis

this javascript can automate the process

    Hello Ben.

Thanks for your suggestion on the issue, however the exchange rates for currencies will not be realistic because more than 5 salepersons may want to work on separate quote concurrently and each of them want to use different exchange rates on the same currency. The default system will use the exchange rates specified on the currency they are using thereby giving them a base amount different from what they want. You can see that updating the exchange rates on the currencies will not solve the problem? This is really a serious issue on my deployment and I wish I can get a solution urgently.

Other option is to create ExchangeRate entity and collect daily rates from external source (like bank etc). Of course build-in exchangerate will be useless than but changing exchangerate for specifiec day at Your quote could do the job.

If you want the ability for every sales person to put in a different exchange rate then I think you will need to create some kind of customization.

You could create a new field on the form or a new entity if necessary.

You will either need to create some javascript/workflow/business rule to use your new field and do the currency calculations

    Hello Ben,

That seems to be my best shot. Create exchange rate field on the quote and customize the currency calculation on the new field. I thought about that but I always avoid customization on currency fields on any system I am deploying because of rounding error.

    Thank you.
