Quote integration using write-in product

Hello all,

I am planning on integrating quote header and line items from my ERP into CRM Dynamics.

I am trying to find out if I would need to integrate a portion of my product DB from my ERP in order to achieve the quote line item integration. Or can I get away without having a product DB in CRM (for now) and somehow only integrating quotes with the line items, that would not reference a product in CRM?

I appreciate your help.
