How to obtain AR aging data

Posted on by 105

Hello,

I am a GP newbie with a couple of questions about accessing AR aging data from Dynamics 2010 GP for use in another software application.

Is it possible to retrieve AR aging data through eConnect?

If so, can all aging data (for a sinle or all accounts) be returned for a single call to eConnect?
If not, is there another method by which all aging data could be retrieved, that does not involve querying the aging data tables directly, for example, via a web service call?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Harold

Short answer to your query is yes.  Easy enough once you get the hang of the Requestor and how the eConnect_Out table works.

eConnect does have the ability to return data through the Requestor setup.  It's actually the only window eConnect has and if you have it loaded on your workstation you will find it under PF->Microsoft Dynamics -> eConnect -> Requestor Setup.

It is a set of table triggers which will write data out to either a MSMQ, a table or as a result set to a .Net call.  It has a Customer Balance object pre configured but you can also create custom objects to return custom data sets.

    Hello Frank,

Is there a way to obtain all of the aging data in the RM00101, RM20101, and RM30101 database tables, using eConnect?

    Thanks again

Re: How to obtain AR aging data

    Hello Frank,

We have a software application that uses the aging data in our GP implementation for some of its reports. Those reports are built from SQL queries that join directly to the GP database tables RM00101, RM20101, RM30101. We were told by our IT dept that directly joining to the tables in the GP database is not an acceptable practice, and that we must either use eConnect or some other method that GP exposes (like a web service) to retrieve the aging data. We can no longer access those tables directly (GP database was intentionally put on another server on another network domain), so we can no longer generate our aging reports.

Our GP installations is maintained by a Microsoft partner, and the reports were created by my predecessor, but I want to know what method for obtaining the aging data is considered either a best practice, or appropriate in this situation. Does GP provide a way to retrieve these data through eConnect or some other web service or method, and what method is appropriate in our situation?

Your help is very much appreciated.

    Hello Frank,

Thank you for responding to my question. What I really need to know is what the recommended method is for retrieving the aging data. Can this be done through eConnect, and if not, is there another way that these data can be obtained from GP that does not involve directly querying the database? Does GP allow access to its aging database through any services other than eConnect?

    Thanks again,

    Harold

The table you're looking for Harold is RM00103.  Now keep in mind, this table is only updated after the Aging Routine is run or during the printing of an Historical Aged Trial Balance.
