Different Legal Entities

We have various legal entities and as of now in order to make any transaction, we need to change the company and then do as per the required legal entity.

Is there a process by which I can, at an approval level, get to know all the transactions from all the legal entities at one place and approve them from there. I need to resolve the issue of logging into different legal entities to do this.

    RE: Different Legal Entities

    Hi Deepawal,

Perhaps I'm reading your question differently from Jonathan and Suresh. As I understand, you seem to be familiar with creating and using multiple companies in NAV, and perhaps even the Intercompany functionality. Your concern appears to be that you have to keep switching companies to track and manage approvals in each.

Short of creating a customization in NAV or using an external tool for approvals that can show you information from multiple companies side-by-side, there is no out of the box functionality for this. If you do decide to handle this as a customization in NAV, your partner or developer will likely do one of the following:

    1. Push data from all companies into a table maintained in one company (perhaps the main operating company), and you'll be able to review and manage approvals there

    2. Use a property in NAV tables that allows it to have common data across all companies (similar to the data in the User or the Company table, which shows the same information, regardless of which Company you're in), and have all to-be-approved transactions sent to this table for review. This way, you won't need to change companies.

As a last resort, if you wish to change the way you use NAV, there are also other solutions (including one we've created called MultiCo) that allow multiple legal entities in NAV to reside in one company, maintaining financial separation and security, while giving you the ability to report side-by-side.

    RE: Different Legal Entities

create a company in nav for each legal entity.

for approval of the transactions you could use an additional company for analyse purposes. there you'll need a custom report or page.
