My client is still using GP2013 and have recently come across that the ROE Generation is creating the file as a .BLK. According to CRA's guidelines, the file format must be in .XML for a successful upload. Is there a way to save the ROE Generation file in .XML directly from GP2013? When generating the file, there is no where that allows you to change the file format upon generation. The client is limited in skill and short of having them change the file extension on the file after it is saved, I can not see a way around this.

I finally took the XML apart and looking line by line found the only difference was in the Tax Number - in the employer record they had the CRA number RT rather than CRA RP number.
Changed to RP and all is well.
Thanks for the speedy reply.
When you upload the file into ROE web, there is an option on the LHS of the screen, “View Payroll Extract files”.
It will show you the file(s) that you uploaded. You can drill into the files and it will tell you how many of the ROEs were accepted.
Missing information would be the only reason why individual records, and hence the file, might be rejected. Looking at the individual files will help you determine what went wrong. Maybe they missed a return to work date or there is crossover data.
You can view them individually to see what information is missing (if they aren’t accepted) or you can print them (if you want to retain a copy on file).
EI no longer requires you to retain a printed copy for your records and completed ROEs are retained online indefinitely.
Reg, I just got a client email that shows that the BLK is not an excepted extension? Does he just ignore this and carry on as if it was accepted? How do we confirm it was actually accepted.
Thanks.
There are no issues uploading a .BLK file through Web ROE.
I send them all the time.
Reg
