Website Copy Tool - Metadata contains a reference that cannot be resolved

We are trying to use the Website Copy Tool that came with version 7.0.0022 of Adxstudio. We are on CRM 2016 SP1 on-premise (8.1.0.359).

When we try to connect to make the copy, we get that error message:

Metadata contains a reference that cannot be resolved: 'abc/.../Organization.svc'.

The URL is actually reachable in a browser.

Any ideas to what is wrong?

Thanks.

We have the same problem on one of our projects. Any updates / successes regarding solving this problem?

Same here - the websitecopy tool works with Dynamics CRM 8.0.x but fails on Dynamics CRM 8.1.x. I guess that you will need to open a support ticket with Microsoft,

    Kind regards,

    Hi Guys,

I also had a similar connectivity issue.  The issue was due to Azure deprecating ACS making ACS enabled Service bus to not work.

Create a support ticket with Microsoft.  They'll be able to fix the issue.

We found out the problem is due to the versions of SDK files used by WebsiteCopy. It uses versions 6 by default and should use versions 8.

We were able to make it work by updating the references and use the Version 8 of SDK files.

How did you update references, do you have the source code for websitecopy? I tried adding websitecopy.config with remapping to V.8 and registering apparent DLLs in GAC but that did not work. What is your method?

    Thanks!

Never mind my question. I replicated the config from the crmsvcutil in the API to websitecopy config and that worked fine, no problems connecting to Dynamics 365.

    Cheers!

Not being a developer myself, I asked to a colleague. My understanding of what he did was:

    1. Decompile WebsiteCopy.exe

    2. Modify WebSiteCopy.exe.config to reference to the 4 DLLs that are problematic (version 8 of the SDK)

    3. Recompile

    4. In the end, I have 6 files in a folder:

    • WebsiteCopy.exe
    • WebSiteCopy.exe.config
    • Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk.dll
    • Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk.Deployment.dll
    • Microsoft.IdentityModel.dll
    • Microsoft.Crm.Sdk.Proxy.dll

In the config file, you need a token that can be found here.

I can share the files, but I would rather do this in private.
