I was hoping for some suggestions on how to create a customer journey where it splits the segment into different paths depending on the customer location. And depending on the location, the email deployment dates would vary.
Example: We have a segment of 100 contacts which have a 'location' field. Is it possible (in the customer journey) to split this one segment with a condition based on the location field? We would aim to have one journey + condition and 4 different outcomes so that we can send them customized marketing emails at different times.
Or is the only solution to create different segments instead of indicating locations in the if/then statement?

I would recommend that you create different segments based on the contact's location information and place them in multiple swim lanes of a customer journey to achieve your needs.
Since if/ then and split statement cannot get the specific information of Contact, the ‘location’ cannot be set as the condition of a journey. However, it is really able to be set as a condition in Segment.
Add a ‘Wait until’ statement to decide when to send the emails for contacts in specific locations.
After setting up like the above pictures, you can have one journey + 4 swim lanes and 4 different outcomes so that you can send them customized marketing emails at different times.
