Update opportunity product via workflow

Im trying to update a field on opportunity product on create of an opportunity product using a workflow. It seems that you can only update releated entities and not the primary entity (opportunity product). What's up with that?

By default you cannot utilize any workflows (or dialogs) for neither Opportunity Products nor Quote Products.

This is unfortunately the default behavior.

You can try to find a way to update the record via Plug in or Script.

One new option is to use an entity level business rule. While you can't update an opp product or quote or order product via a workflow, a system business rule will do the same thing and is a good option to trigger an update.

How can you use a Business Rule to update a product on an Opportunity or Quote? I don't see that ability.

I have recently had this same problem and I ended up creating a power automate to update opportunity product record.
