Item Maintenance Issue

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I have an inventory item set up for particular location, and I need to remove that item from that specific location.  However, when I try to delete the item from the speicified location, I get an error message that says:  "This item site record can't be deleted because an unposted transaction exists for this item at this site".

How do i find the unposted transaction?  As far as I know (I've checked for unposted receipts) I don't have any unposted batches.

    Hi tiegsj,

You are correct. You cannot remove the item/site combination while you have unposted transactions for that item/site combination.

Though not the best of all answers, SQL may be your only option.  It's easy at least, only one table -- so long as you don't use multi-bin or have that location in a cycle count.

I created an order with an inventory item and then deleted the item/site record from the IV00102 table. Out of curiosity, I transferred the order to an invoice and there wasn't even a hiccough. GP re-created the item/site record straight away. I deleted the item/site combo again and tried to post the invoice. It would not post, but it also did not tell me why.

So, if you want to prevent the unintentional recreation of the item/site record, you may need to put some other controls in place.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Re: Item Maintenance Issue

I have found a number of unposted transactions for the item in question by running a SmartList on the Sales Line Items table.  Interestingly it shows both Sales Order and Quote transactions even though they don't post.  This was confirmed when I run the same query in SQL it shows that the PSTGSTUS field has a value of 0.  This post confirms that.

So here is my issue.  I want to remove a site from the options for this option but because there are unposted transactions in SOP I cannot.  I could remove the transactions using the Remove Sales History but I don't want to wipeout historical Orders because they are used in reports that sales people use.  It looks like the only option would be to change the status in SQL but that doesn't seem advisable.

Would love some input from an MVP.

I am having the same issue.  I have checked for unposted inventory and receivables transactions for the item in question and there are none.
